(almost) serious picture of me

ABOUT

I’m Alessandro Salvato, and I’ve always loved building things that actually work. From microcontrollers to full digital architectures, I find energy in solving problems that sit at the intersection of hardware, software, and smart design.

My path has taken me through automotive projects, academic research, and consulting, where I’ve learned that technology is at its best when it combines precision engineering with creativity and vision. I’m particularly passionate about designing embedded systems that are efficient, reliable, and scalable, as well as creating intelligent algorithms for trading and data analysis, where performance and accuracy truly matter.

I approach every project with curiosity and a drive to understand not just how things work, but how they could work better. Whether I’m optimizing real-time systems, experimenting with new architectures, or mentoring teams, my goal is to turn complex challenges into elegant, future-ready solutions.

Beyond engineering, I enjoy exploring emerging technologies, sharing what I’ve learned, and taking on projects that push me to think differently. I believe in building not just great products — but also trust, collaboration, and lasting impact along the way.

Fun at the Core

For me, the most important part of any project isn’t just the code, the systems, or the algorithms — it’s the human connection. Going to work with a smile, knowing that my colleagues trust me, and feeling that shared sense of purpose, is what truly drives me to create, solve problems, and help others.

I’ve learned so much from senior engineers and people with more experience — their guidance, patience, and expertise have shaped the way I approach challenges, and this continues to be true today. At the same time, building friendships with everyone I work with makes every project richer and more enjoyable. Supporting younger colleagues in their growth and witnessing their progress is, to me, one of the most rewarding experiences in a professional life.

Hello World

Back in 2012, the summer before starting university, I was walking by the seaside with my father. Smartphones — and apps in particular — were exploding in popularity. My father had an iPhone, and as we browsed through the App Store, I was amazed by the sheer number of apps available — even paid ones for things that seemed almost useless.

I remember thinking: "Are people really paying for all of this?"
That commercial curiosity quickly led to a deeper question: "Will this trend of software applications keep growing? How pervasive will technology become in our lives?"

Interestingly, I had originally planned to study Sports Science, not Computer Engineering. But that summer walk changed my perspective. I realized that informatics was becoming a driving force in society, shaping not just industries, but everyday life. So when it came time to enroll at university, I chose Computer Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, setting me on the path I’m still following today.

Diverse Portfolio

I’ll admit it: during my bachelor’s degree, I was never a big fan of electronics — especially analog electronics. But when it came time to choose my master’s program, I wanted something that went beyond pure computer science. That’s why I chose Embedded Systems, a path that added valuable skills in digital electronics while still building on my software background.

I briefly considered Mechatronics Engineering, but mechanics simply wasn’t one of my interests at the time (though today I’d probably enroll without hesitation!). Choosing Embedded Systems wasn’t a mistake — it just reflects my hunger for knowledge and curiosity about how different fields of engineering connect.

Over time, I also developed a passion for finance, thanks to one of my uncles who works in the industry. For someone with my background, it felt almost natural — and too good an opportunity to miss — to experiment with developing algorithms to trade and analyze financial markets. Combining engineering precision with market curiosity, I began building tools that let me test strategies, analyze data, and see how software could be applied in a completely different field.

This combination of embedded systems expertise and algorithmic thinking continues to shape the way I approach projects today — always seeking to turn complex challenges into efficient, reliable, and innovative solutions.

Bytes of Me

Take a peek behind the code and circuits: this is where my embedded systems obsession, algorithm experiments, and love for learning collide with the fun, human side of work. From collaborating with colleagues and mentoring younger engineers, to chasing new curiosities and playful ideas, these are the pieces that make up the full “me.”
